Everyone has a story, and I want you to create yours or add to it! As a single Black mother I always wanted to attend an artist-in -residence program but none were equipped to accept me as a single mother or Black woman. This space is created by me FOR us! My vision is to create a peaceful work/live space for Black women visual artists and writers. This space will allow them to incubate, grow & evolve undisturbed for a period of 14 consecutive days payment free. 12 artists per year will be serviced & I hope to start the first cohort in January of 2023! Matching grassroots philanthropy with creatives one Black woman artist at a time.

 

What is provided for the artist in residency for Black women visual artist or writer? 

• free separate apartment space with kitchenette, washer/dryer and studio workspace

• food stipend

• hard furniture (tables and chairs)

• outdoor work space on a golf course

What is the artist responsible for:

• transportation to and from residency

• own supplies

• background check completed in advance

• leaving an artwork or writing to the space for future recipients of the artist in residence
